Steven Friedman Broadway Musical Lectures

Steven Friedman is an internationally recognized Broadway Musical historian who has brought the joy of Broadway to audiences all over the world. His engaging style wit, and knowledge of the back stories of the musicals many cherish has endeared him to his audiences. Steven believes that music and historical perspective create an emotional reaction and he delights himself on helping audiences enjoy the relevance of both time and era in regard to musical theatre history.

A native of Washington, D.C., Steve takes pride in delivering an exciting lecture that truly engages the viewer. By including live performances of the songs from the Broadway eras he speaks of the lecture series provides an interactive experience unlike any other. It is this three dimensional approach that separates his lecture style form all others.

As the author of the Amazon best-selling book, “The Ultimate Broadway Musical List Book” he has solidified his reputation as an expert on the Broadway musical.

With a background as a trained classical tenor, Steven attained the passion to present lectures from the vantage point of once having performed in many musicals himself. These Include credits in Camelot, Damn Yankees, and Sweeney Todd just to name several. Steven has studied with leading vocal teachers nationally, including vocal coaches at Carnegie Mellon, and the Metropolitan Opera. and has enhanced his perception of theatre by not just performing but by looking at its roots from a historical perspective.

Steven is an adjunct faculty member at two Universities, including Johns Hopkins University where he lectures on pop culture, Hollywood history and Broadway. His lecture series has provided wide acclaim on all genres of musical theatre, and movies.

Although his career for 25+ years was as a sales management lecturer and consultant, his love for musical theatre was always his passion. He has performed in many venues over the years including the Kennedy Center, and has been a soloist for 35 years in choirs.

His cruise line lectures have been widely praised on Crystal Cruises, Sea Dream Yacht Club, and Celebrity Cruise Lines and Princess Cruises worldwide.

Steve lives in Metropolitan DC with his teen sweetheart and has two grown sons (both of whom have been performers). He also is the proud grandfather of five
